VACAVILLE, Calif.– Alten Construction, a full-service San Francisco Bay Area commercial construction company, completed the construction for Will C. Wood High School’s new high school football stadium with multi-use track and field.
The new stadium and multi-use track and field will be used for football games, soccer matches and track and field events. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to commemorate the occasion on May 3 to unveil it. Faculty, students, district officials and members of the community filled the stadium’s field and stands during the event.
The arena features a new ceiling-mounted projector, turf field, ticket booth, locker rooms, concessions, press box and an accessible ramp that is decorated with donor-purchased wall tiles. Its new bleacher grandstands with amphitheater-style seating holds approximately 4,000 fans.
In 2007-08, Will C. Wood High School began a three-phase modernization process. The Measure V Bond initiative, which passed in 2003, funded the $35 million project. The first phase included a new lower field complex that improved its physical education facility.
The second phase added the school’s state-of-the-art, two-story science wing, providing much-needed classroom space. The third phase included many upgrades to the school’s quad, administration building, all of the remaining classroom wings, two locker rooms, the small gym, the gym foyer and improvement of the technology infrastructure.
Located at 998 Marshall Road in Vacaville, Will C. Wood first opened its doors in September 1969.The school is a collaborative learning community of students, staff and families.
