Alten Construction finalized the reactivation and modernization of a six-acre bus maintenance facility in Richmond, Calif., for the Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District, known as AC Transit.
The existing facility was unoccupied for several years, and the reactivation and modernization included the installation of new maintenance equipment, service equipment and fueling stations with fuel monitoring, which will allow employees to track how much fuel was used by each vehicle.
The $10.8 million project was designed by Dreyfuss + Blackford Architecture and also entailed seismic and structural upgrades and remodeling mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning infrastructure. Finishes were restored throughout the facility, from flooring and ceilings to walls and partitions. Alten Construction improved the lighting and security across the site as well.
