Bel Aire Elementary Modernization

In 2005, Alten Construction teamed up with Reed Union School District and DLM Architecture to build two new structures and remodel one existing structure for the Bel Aire Elementary School in Tiburon. The first building included the new construction of a multi-story building consisting of classrooms and a library. This building was constructed on a hillside and required a large amount of excavation and drilled concrete piers. The second building included new construction of a single-story multipurpose building with an elevator, gymnasium, full kitchen and large council meeting room. This building entrance abutted the hillside; therefore, a multi-story elevator was required to facilitate entry into the single-story building. The third building consisted of the modernization of an existing building into a new music room area. This project received the Society of American Registered Architects California Council 2010 Excellence in Design Award.
