Alten Construction was contracted by the Alameda Unified School District to complete major upgrades to two of the district’s schools for a total project size of 8.2 million square feet.
Henry Haight Elementary School
Exterior work included replacing the window wall panel system, new fencing installation & old fencing repair, new site lighting and accessible parking. Facility-wide improvements included replacing the HVAC system, upgrading the school’s communication systems, reconfiguring and retrofitting the interior spaces for accessibility and adding new toilet stalls.
The school district wished for sitework to begin prior to summer vacation, so the work areas needed to be fenced in while the campus remained in use.
Lincoln Middle School
AUSD tasked Alten Construction with performing site improvements across campus that included increased accessibility, more bike storage, new benches at the terminated bike path, added fencing, gates and locks for the exterior of the facility and several interior improvements. Inside the facility, the Alten team upgraded the communication systems, replaced all interior door locks/hardware, repaired the windows, replaced the cabinetry, flooring & finishes and remodeled the music room with expanded storage capacity, increased acoustical features and new bathrooms.
