In 2003, Alten Construction built a new fire station in Novato under a multi-prime contract for the Novato Fire Protection District. This Spanish style structure was 8,500 square feet and had white, plaster walls and a terra cotta roof. Alten Construction self-performed the concrete foundation and the wood framing and coordinated with the owner and the other prime contractors for the utilities, plumbing, mechanical and electrical. The completed building includes a bell tower, a kitchen with new stainless steel appliances, a weight room, sleeping quarters, restrooms and showers, offices and an apparatus bay for the fire engines.
