Awarded LEED Silver in May 2011, this project, which was designed by HKIT Architects, consisted of modernizing two existing auto repair buildings on the Indian Valley Campus of the College of Marin. Alten Construction removed and replaced all of the finishes in both buildings; placed new structural and topping slabs with radiant floor heat; installed new electrical systems and shop equipment (vehicle lifts, dynos, work stations, etc.) throughout the buildings; placed new concrete paving, accessible ramps and walls outside the buildings; and installed site utilities, including a bioswale for storm drain water diversion and filtering.
