Alten Construction worked with the City of San Leandro and Group 4 Architecture to build San Leandro's LEED Gold senior center. The new structure includes a full service industrial kitchen and cafeteria, an exercise and dance space, a computer lab and various other classrooms. The building is equipped with a number of innovative and sustainable components such as a computerized building management system (BACnet) by Johnson Controls and materials that were either locally sourced or that had recycled content. Outside the building, Alten Construction placed site concrete, paved a new parking lot and fully landscaped the open space with planting, retention ponds and water reduction measures.
