Santa Rosa Junior College Plover Hall Conversion

In 2008, alongside TLCD Architecture, Alten Construction completed the renovation of the existing library at the Santa Rosa Junior College, turning it into the campus's new office of admissions and financial aid, while the campus remained in use. The existing, brick building was completely gutted, requiring all new interior walls and new, exterior storefront openings. As part of the project, a new mechanical system was placed underground, using Spunstrand fiberglass reinforced ductwork. In order to place the fiberglass pipe, the existing concrete slab was cut, and interior trenches were dug. At the point of exit from the building, the new underground ductwork trench reached a depth of approximately thirteen feet, requiring shoring. The ductwork was routed to the existing mechanical yard where new mechanical equipment was installed and connected. As part of this new mechanical system, a raised access floor system was placed on top of the concrete slab, and then glue-down carpet tiles were placed. The updates to Plover Hall included masonry repair, new roofing, casework, standard finishes, a fire sprinkler system and a security system. At the exterior of the existing building, Alten Construction placed new concrete retaining walls, ADA ramps, flatwork and irrigation and landscaping.
